Focus MD Continues to Grow

Focus-MD Daphne is proud to announce that Dr. Washington has accepted the position of Medical Director of The Community Awareness and Development Alliance in Charleston at the end of August. CADA is a Focus-MD inspired non-profit entity that will be engaged in ADHD education and awareness as well as diagnosis and treatment in disadvantaged and inner city populations. Dr. Washington has been a great asset to the Daphne office and to Focus-MD. Though we are sad to lose her locally, we appreciate her contribution during the last year and are pleased to announce that she will remain on the Focus-MD team. In addition to her role with CADA, she will be helping develop our emerging clinical research efforts. Her work will begin in Charleston and Mobile but Focus-MD hopes to see this effort spread to help more at -risk youth.

Focus-MD will continue to serve patients at our Daphne location.  Mark Thomas, MD, FAAP has joined the Focus-MD team and will be opening our Tuscaloosa office in November.  Dr. Thomas will have office hours at our Daphne office in September and October so that patients will have uninterrupted care. Dr. Thomas was recently with the University Of Alabama Department Of Pediatrics and University Health Services in Tuscaloosa. He is Board Certified in Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.

Patrice Hicks, MD will be joining Focus-MD full time in Daphne in November.  Dr. Hicks served in the military before going to medical school and is completing his residency in pediatrics at Erlanger Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga, Tennessee.  He is married and his wife is also a physician who is completing training in radiation oncology. Dr. Hicks will be Board eligible in pediatrics and has a special interest in developmental and behavioral pediatrics, especially patients with attention and learning problems. He is excited about the Focus-MD system of using guideline driven, evidenced based medicine in a very individualized way to meet the needs of each patient as a person.

As Focus-MD grows to its ninth location with the opening of the Tuscaloosa office this fall our goal remains to keep each office dedicated to quality medicine for patients with ADHD and related disorders in a patient centered practice.
