Diagnosis and Treatment for ADHD and associated conditions for Children, Adolescents, and Adults
Jonda Ward Young, MD was born and raised in Kentucky and attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine before completing her pediatric residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Dr. Young has been board certified in pediatrics since 2000. She first practiced general pediatrics in Hermitage, TN, for several years before returning to Kentucky, where she worked in Murray and then in her hometown of Benton. While working in general pediatrics, she took a special interest in the evaluation and treatment of patients with ADHD and in working with the families of such patients due to her experiences with the disorder in her own family. She loves helping educate families about ADHD and helping to find the best treatment plan for patients, which includes identifying and using their strengths.
After taking a few years off from medical practice for family reasons, Dr. Young is extremely excited to join Focus-MD in Raleigh and specialize in the management of ADHD and related conditions. She will concentrate on children and adolescents but is also knowledgeable about ADHD in adults.
Dr. Young moved to Chapel Hill from KY in 2014 and has two teenage children. She does freelance medical editing work and keeps active walking her somewhat spoiled Yorkie-poo. Much of her spare time is also spent going to see her children sing and perform, since they both enjoy being involved in singing groups and dramatic productions.
